Coach's Challenge

Two former hockey players with dark pasts must find a way to work together, healing old wounds in the process, in this slow burn MM hockey romance for fans of Rachel Reid.

Aaron Young only knows how to coach the Vancouver Vanguard one way—old school. Tough. It’s how hockey treated him as one of the league’s only First Nations players. It’s also how teams win. But Aaron’s gruff, guarded demeanor is catching up to him. He’s losing the respect of his players, and they’re paying for it on the ice.

Cameron Bennett always knew who he was. When he transitioned, he was ready to force the world to accept him through unrelenting stubbornness and optimism. Instead, he got locker room culture—and he couldn’t handle it. Now, he’ll do anything to prove he has what it takes to win. Even if it means making enemies. Even if it means becoming a man he doesn’t recognize.

When Cam joins the Vanguard as their new general manager, his first assignment is to charm Aaron Young. Aaron doesn’t trust Cam’s slick, new school style, or the smile that doesn’t always reach his eyes. But as the two men work together, they realize they’re not so different. They’re both hiding scars beneath their masks. If they want to win, they’ll have to heal the wounds that hockey left behind. And maybe heal each other along the way.
