Diverging Roads, published in 1919, is a novel by Rose Wilder Lane, daughter of Little House author Laura Ingalls Wilder. The story follows young college graduates navigating love, ambition, and the expectations of post–World War I American society. Lane, who later became known for her libertarian political views, explores the tension between independence and conformity, as well as the evolving roles of women. The novel blends romance with early feminist themes and offers a vivid portrait of American youth on the brink of modernity.
