Feminist Pedagogy Primer
Feminist Pedagogy Primer for Yukon Educators
Descrizione dell’editore
The promise of transcending boundaries and making space for young women, and young Aboriginal women in particular, in distance education can be realized by grounding teaching practice in feminist pedagogy. The new Yukon curriculum reflects the growing awareness of the rich history, traditions and cultural practices of Aboriginal people and their fundamental role in society. As we infuse First Peoples’ Principles of Learning into our classroom practice, we acknowledge, respect and listen to their voices as they intersect with feminist pedagogy. “The ‘ideal’ classroom allows all students the right of expression but challenges them, and the teacher, into rethinking what they – (we) – think we know” (McGloin, 2016, p. 849).
This primer is a first step in recognizing the unique learning needs of young [Aboriginal] women and creating online learning environments that reflect these needs.
