Pedro hasn't sworn off women, because they've never been an option. When one gets too close or wants too much, he sends her packing. Maria, his best friend's little sister, has never been on his radar because he's never thought of her in a romantic way.

Maria hasn't sworn off men, because they're not an option at the moment. Until she gets the hell out of small town Charlotte, men are nothing more than a distraction. Sure, she's had a crush on Pedro for most of her life, but she knows nothing will come of it.

But when her brother asks her to use her business acumen to promote the band, Pedro and Maria in each other's constant presence soon find one another hard to resist.

So they don't.

When Pedro and Maria finally give in, they realize there's more to their attraction than just lust. But even if her brother can accept the two of them together, their relationship doesn't stand a chance. Pedro isn't about to let Maria see the monster inside and she's bound and determined to leave everything behind.
