Introduction to General Chemistry

Chemistry is the central science and an experimental science. Scientists need standardized and systematic ways of making measurements and reporting data. Toward this end, in this book you will learn how chemists make measurements and how these measurements are reported.


More specifically you will learn about the metric system and the International System of Units, or SI system, and you will learn how these systems compare with the English system. You will also learn how to perform calculations involving these measurement systems.


A general goal of this book is to help you learn how to present data and results obtained during scientific investigations, and to learn the methods and procedures for performing calculations in the chemistry field.
