Littsie of Cincinnati

Littsie O’Donnell, daughter of Irish immigrants, tells the story of growing up in colorful, dynamic early Cincinnati. When the cholera epidemic of 1832 devastates her family, she responds to the tragedy with bravery and determination. Her survival is assured when such prominent citizens as Daniel Drake, Anne Bell Bailey, Salmon Chase, Nicholas Longworth, and Frances Trollope help her. Littsie’s story involving pioneer life, the search for her lost sister, steamboats and slavery is one of high adventure and persistent courageous love. This book has won an IPPY award, is recommended by the Ohio Historical Center Outreach Program and is recommended in the Macmillan/McGraw Hill Social Studies Program.
