Introduction Sleep apnoea in infants was first described in 1975 in relation to sudden infant death syndrome and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) was described in 1976 in school children (1). Since than there has been a significant increase in the recognition of sleep disorders in children. Despite this, there is still a paucity of data on this problem in children and also a lack of training of medical professionals to address the issue. The long term neurocognitive, metabolic and cardiovascular complications and ability to prevent these with early treatment warrant early diagnosis.
