In the far reaches of the solar system, where the Oort Cloud meets the Kuiper Belt, humanity's first deep-space exploration vessel, the Earhart, encounters a threat it can't identify.

Before her daughter boarded humanity's first deep-space mission, Nikili Echols says the one thing a mother should never say. Now Saverna is millions of miles away, furious, and in trouble with no way to call for help.

System malfunctions in the Oort Cloud forces the Earhart to limp to nearest port for repairs. On Eris, a team of engineers assembles, but Chief Nikili Echols has a personal mission to mend the rift with her daughter. As old tensions resurface and new dangers emerge, Nikili and Saverna must work together to solve the mystery threatening the Sol and their bond.
