This book urges physicians and opticians to be careful when prescribing glasses to patients. The author is concerned that too hasty a decision would overlook certain considerations, such as certain eye defects that are not as common and with which doctors might not have ample familiarity. This could lead to to glasses with the wrong prescription that would not help the patient.
