How do you break a witch's curse?
Sunday Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan returns with an all-new epic romantasy standalone of witches and dragons, set in the high-stakes world of A Fire in the Sky and A Scar in the Bone.
***
For ten long years, Arden has been invisible, trapped in her village by a spell she cannot break. Living like a ghost among those who’ve forgotten her, she dreams of vengeance against the witch who cursed her.
Until one fateful day, her village is devoured in flame, and everything changes.
From the wreckage rises a pride of dragons that can transform into humans. Their piercing eyes slice through her curse, and for the first time in a decade, Arden can be seen.
Swept off to the Crags by the enigmatic alpha dragon, Tage, Arden is forced into a world of fire and power, drawn unwillingly to Tage’s fiery intensity.
But Arden’s fate is bound to a secret she has yet to uncover. With war on the horizon, she must decide whether to harness the wild magic around her, or risk losing everything.
Sometimes all it takes to break a curse… is to cast another spell.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Jordan returns to the world of A Fire in the Sky with this steamy but choppy standalone romantasy. Arden is furious when her father refuses to let her leave their remote northern village with her brother and his wife. Frustrated, she runs into the woods, where she wishes for her own disappearance—a wish that soon becomes a reality as she transforms into an unseen, unheard apparition wandering among her people. Ten lonely years later, her village is ravaged by fire and Arden is taken captive by a pride of dragons, who, unlike her fellow humans, are able to perceive her. The story then takes an abrupt turn as attraction blooms between Arden and her brash captor, the headstrong, muscly alpha dragon Tage. The romance plot and the mystery of Arden's curse do get tied together by the end, at least somewhat, but the book feels disjointed for too long. Tage is dominant and controlling, and his possessive behavior is sure to divide readers, but his and Arden's lengthy, high-heat love scenes will please those in it for the spice. This is best suited for Jordan's most devoted fans.
