When Taylor meets Craig, she is sure he is husband material. He is good-looking, fun to be with, and kind and caring. Their relationship is everything she wanted, but things change when she meets Craig's family. His mother is a snob who belittles Taylor for her middle-class upbringing. The woman is hateful, and Taylor begins to question whether she wants to put up with Marilyn Minchen for years or end the relationship.
Craig's response to Taylor's complaints about his mother is less than satisfactory, but Taylor sets aside her doubts. After the honeymoon, Taylor suspects that Marilyn plans to make her financially dependent on Craig so that, when the marriage finally ends, Taylor will be left impoverished. As Craig begins to stray, following a plan orchestrated by his mother, he assumes Taylor will turn a blind eye or risk becoming destitute. Unfortunately for Marilyn, Taylor has a few tricks up her sleeve, so when the final insult lands, Taylor walks away.
With her future unfettered by the toxic behaviour of the Minchen family, Taylor meets and marries someone deserving of her affection.
