He was English, she could tell from his accent.
“This pub shuts at ten o’clock every evening, it does,” Aisling explained.
He looked at her up and down, glaring at her boobs again; yes, they were big, she was curvy and beautiful — and very, very hot.
That’s what her fine thing of a fiancé told her; that’s what all the guys told her as they ogled Aisling.
The old man, said, “Ten o’clock? But ain’t this your St Patrick’s Day, when you all get pissed and celebrate being Irish?”
He was no English gent, by the sound of him. He was old and wrinkly, with white hair, though he had a cheeky glint in his eye — especially when that eye roved Aisling’s tremendous body.
“We shuts at ten,” she declared in her delicious Irish lilt. “That’s been our tradition for a long time, from when my granddaddy ran this pub.”
“Funny tradition for an Irish pub.”
He had a pint of Guinness on the table in front of him, half finished.
Aisling said, “Youse can finish that pint, then you’re off.”
“You wouldn’t send an old fella like me out into the cold, would ya?”
He winked; he was a chancer, clearly.
She put her hands on her hips. “I need to get to my bed, you know.”
He winked again. “I could come with you, darlin’.”
