The ENTRANCE Notebook

None of the Notebooks in this series has a formal structure. All are scanned copies, complete and unedited (except where personal information has been erased), of actual notebooks kept without thought of publication. They all contain many drawings, often analytical plans and sections of works of architecture. They also contain copious handwritten notes.


The present Notebook has as its theme the poetic, practical, emotional… powers of transitions between places. Its short title is ENTRANCE but it is also about exit, threshold, emergence, refuge, the in-between, identity, meeting, departure, defence, discrimination, trepidation, temptation… and many other aspects of doorways, portals, gateways, porches, bridges…
