The Great Dolphin Escape

What would dolphins say if they could communicate with us? Entertaining and subtly educational, "The Great Dolphin Escape" raises challenging and controversial issues from the dolphin point of view.

A dolphin strands on the beach. While recovering after rescue at a stranding center, he experiences an intense epiphany and vows to remedy ills affecting dolphins. Released back into the ocean, he meets two other dolphins and they join him on a great quest. They become dolphin rebels as their unorthodox association and strange ideas casts them outside the mainstream of dolphin society.

They rescue a reconnaissance party of aliens with advanced technology. They form a bond, but the aliens want to hide from their enemies and limit their assistance. The aliens help the dolphins undergo an astounding transformation and give them the ability to communicate telepathically. But if the dolphins are going to solve their problems, they must do it themselves. Now they must encounter their most dangerous adversary: man, the master of their planet.

Naïve and ill-equipped for the challenges they face, they must learn fast. Taken to a zoo, they are exploited while they fight obstacles blocking their quest. They baffle scientists. People perceive them as freaks. Their altruistic ideas clash with reality. They are scorned as devils and their lives are threatened while they try to win public trust. They bond with Jeanie, their trainer, John, a marine biologist, and Sandy, a middle school student, who researches the plight of captive dolphins. Captivity and dolphin slaughters shock them. They redefine their mission. Trapped in a zoo, their mission and their lives in peril, how can they gain their freedom?

“Dolphins on a quest. A fun story that still reveals the disguise behind the dolphin’s smile.”
