Before Hudson joined the Met, he carved a name for himself training in the CID, back from his home village of Gotham in Nottinghamshire.
In The Long Night, the year is 2017 and Hudson is studying hard for his exams, keen on progressing into the CID and finally becoming a detective. But on All Hallow's Eve, as Gotham village prepares for their famous Autumn/Halloween food festival, a young girl goes missing in the woods.
Something has taken her.
Banding together with friends, family and even the church vicar, Hudson ventures out into the cold night, wary of sounds in the dark. Of stories of the Bone Man.
But as the night draws on and his mind falls prey to worry, Hudson realises he may not be ready for what he might find deep in the Gotham woods.
