The Stylist

Emerging in the early 70s as lead-singer and co-creative force of Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry defined the aesthetics of late 20th century pop music. A tangle of contradictions - born working-class on Wearside into a mining family but destined for a life lived dressed in haute0couture with aristocratic friends and glamorous model girlfriends - Ferry's fifty plus year career traverses the High Modernist end of Glam Rock, legendary ballads like 'Jealous Guy', exquisite covers of Bob Dylan, and experimental space-age pop. He is the Everyman become Chameleon: an unknowable, unfixable enigma, quintessentially British and class-bound with a paradoxically deliciously Europhile sensibility that sets him apart from his contemporaries.

Based on conversations with Ferry and interpretations of his art and performance over the years, The Stylist will attempt to get to the heart of an artist whose influence is comparable to peers like Lou Reed, Neil Young and David Bowie. Someone who chose and pursued a life which valued style above everything else and in the process became almost a living archetype himself.
