Descrizione dell’editore

I have argued that postcolonialism is to be viewed quite simply as a resistance to postmodernism. But might it not be the case that a single work may be postmodern in the light of one set of interests and values, and postcolonial in the light of another? Or is the situation more complex? Are images founded upon a postcolonial difference from international postmodernism themselves phantasms. That is to say: are representations which claim to reflect, or intend to produce, a distinctively postcolonial reality already postmodern images working as simulacra in the larger international cultural economy.
