This one is about three boys (aged 14, 12, and 10) who live in Valdez, Alaska, and are allowed to join one of the boys' Uncle Dick on a coastal mapping expedition around Kodiak Island (it was spelled Kadiak back then) with the revenue cutter "Bennington".
