Gideon, High Chief of the Centaurs knows Monica is an outlander and assumes her to be a spy—guilty until she can prove otherwise.  When the flying metal bird carrying her goes down, he and his warriors capture her, but he discovers Monica is a far harder nut to crack than he'd ever dreamed.  And she is, quite possibly, the most elusive captive he's ever taken.

 Monica isn't about to wait around while the trial council decides her 'fate'.  She doesn't like the sound of that at all.  It totally sucks that she's got Gideon on her heels and his enemies between her and freedom—and then there are dragons and grypons and all manner of shifters ….
