Blink Last

The rise, the fall, and the battle for the bestselling Black American-founded whiskey empire in history. In 2017, Fawn Weaver founded the billion-dollar company Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey to honor Nearest Green, the world's first known African American master distiller and the unheralded backbone of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. As the company grew, Weaver became the first Black American woman in U.S. history to build and lead a consumer-packaged goods company valued at $1 billion or more. Uncle Nearest is one of the world’s most-visited distilleries and welcomes hundreds of thousands annually. For seven consecutive years, the brand has been the world's most-awarded Bourbon. That rise came at a high cost. Amid an independent investigation Weaver commissioned and headline-making litigation, a federal court placed Uncle Nearest into receivership, removing her from leadership. She spent millions of dollars defending the brand, the legacy of Nearest Green and his descendants, and watched a company she spent nine years building collapse. What happens when you watch your life's work, a company you built into an empire, slip away? Through deeply personal stories and hard truths, Blink Last explores Weaver’s determination to hold to her purpose without hardening her heart. This is a groundbreaking story of faith, courage, becoming, and unwavering resolve.
