Maye’s quiet and predictable life is going just as she had dreamed. Unfortunately, her long-term boyfriend has other plans, and Maye faces the one thing she’s spent years avoiding: an unscripted reality.

Two mimosas and one piece of burned toast later, Maye’s feeling uncharacteristically uninhibited when she tunes in to watch a Christmas in July livestream. She ends up virtually face-to-face with the hunky Christmas movie heartthrob, Christoffer “Chris” Robert R. Walker, arguing over the merits of rom-com movie tropes as real-life relationship advice. Unmade-up face to made-for-TV-actor face. 

Their hilarious, banter-filled debate captivates the audience and catches the eye of an eager producer who pitches a show idea based on Maye and Chris’s opposing perspectives. Suddenly, Maye finds herself in a world of road trips, film sets, fall festivals, Christmas conventions, and a spotlight she never wanted.

As she grows closer to the impossibly charming Christmas movie star, will Maye resume the role of background actor, or will she finally take center stage in her own life for a chance at something that feels a whole lot like Christmas magic?
