 Before reading this book, I just finished a book about the history in Song Dynasty(I just read If This is the History of Song Dynasty—The Story of Emperor Renzong of Song Dynasty).I am crazy about the stories happened in Song Dynasty. With intriguing plots and vivid characters, this book is comparable to Outlaws of the Marsh, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China.

 This book introduced lots of Chinese traditional wisdoms, such as the Book of Change, the Eight Diagrams (pattern used in divination), the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth, held by the ancients to compose the physical universe and later used in traditional Chinese medicine to explain various physiological and pathological phenomena) Confucianism. The five heroic characters are the embodiment of five qualities: Benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and integrity. The book also introduces some folk custom in the middle and later period of Qing Dynasty.
