A Great Success

Arthur Meadows has just tipped a cabman nearly twice the fare. As Doris calls after the retreating cab, a flood of letters arrives to announce that her husband is becoming famous.

In their small South Kensington home, the Meadows are suddenly caught up in London’s excitement over Arthur’s sharp, daring lectures on famous politicians. He savours the invitations, admirers and promise of recognition; Doris, who has watched their bills pile up, wants him to meet a pressing deadline before success slips through his fingers. Then comes an invitation from the formidable Lady Dunstable—and even the household staff seem unsettled by Arthur’s new habits. Can Doris find her place beside a husband who is basking in the spotlight?
