A heartbeat always towards you

It's 5:30 p.m. when my mother comes out of my room. She put the dress I have to wear tonight on my bed and as usual, she doesn't even ask my opinion. The only words that came out of his mouth were:
–We are leaving in an hour. Don't be late.
I go to the window hoping to see something distracting that might ease my anxiety, but there is nothing. I jump when I hear the beep announcing that I have a message on my computer. I smile when I see it’s Maevane.
“Hello my dear, it’s been three days since I heard from you. So tell me if you're alive and if you've thought about our conversation, I'm starting to worry. I kiss you.”
“Hello, it might be okay and yes, I’m thinking about it. I can't talk too much, I have to get ready for a party with my mother's friends. I'll tell you tomorrow. »
I go into the bathroom and take a shower then I see I have another message.
"Okay. I think you're going to get pissed off at the old guys' house, good luck. »
I smile knowing she's right, then I wish her a good evening before getting ready.
In front of me my mother is on the arm of her boyfriend, I roll my eyes, disgusted at having had to come. I behave the way my mother reminded me in the car, to only open my mouth when invited to do so and to stay by her side until my fiancé arrives .
I listen to them talking, smiling, and follow them towards the living room where there are other guests. I greet the people who come to see us and I stay there, docile looking around me.
Why did she insist that I be there? To show everyone that we are family? Hypocrite! I look like a well-trained puppy, girls my age are having fun, they go out and choose what they are going to wear!

I nod and smile.
“Come on, let’s go get something to drink,” he said, putting his hand on my back to encourage me to follow him. We walk to the bar then I turn to him.

– Yes, I saw that you tried to call me. I couldn't answer you, sorry.

Emmett turns to the bartender, asks for a glass of champagne and a mocktail.
A non-alcoholic cocktail! Why can't I have a glass of champagne too?
Emmett's phone rings, he apologizes and walks away to answer it. I take the cocktail that the waiter gives me and take a sip then I look at my fiancé who is laughing. I see him talking then hanging up before coming towards me.
