This book is included in the 13th series of our “The Most Classical English Literature Library”. It is a selection of A Little Princess, a classic work by Frances, a famous British children’s writer. A Little Princess is a middle-grade novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, an American female writer, and was first published in 1905. A Little Princess mainly describes the life of the main character before and after the death of her father. An English girl, Sarah, was born to a mother who died and a father who run a coal mine in India and was very wealthy. At the age of seven, Sarah was sent to boarding school by her father. Her father provided her with excellent material conditions and she lived a princess-like life at the boarding school. However, with the sudden death of her father, her life and status at the school fell apart and she suffered from the principal. However, Sara remained optimistic and eventually came to the end of her suffering and obtained her inheritance. A Little Princess not only has a fascinating storyline with many twists and turns, but also has a charming cast of characters. The appearance of the little girl Sarah brought a fresh breeze to the readers of that time. This strong, brave and kind little girl has become the representative character of American teenage novels.
