A Thanksgiving Miracle

Nine-year-old Leo is just bored. But one bad decision—following a mysterious white fox past the stone wall—turns his Thanksgiving holiday into a fight for survival.

Lost in the woods, with a record-breaking blizzard screaming around him, Leo knows he's not going to make it. He's freezing, soaked, and about to give up when a man appears in the white-out. His name is Ari, he has bright red hair, and his simple cabin, full of fire and the smell of fresh bread, is a sanctuary that shouldn't exist.

For two days, Ari keeps Leo safe, teaching him games and asking strange questions about what it means to be human. But when the storm finally breaks and Leo leads his desperate family back to the spot, the cabin is gone.

In its place is a roofless, snow-filled ruin.

Leo's family thinks he was hallucinating. The sheriff says no one could have survived out there. But they can't explain the single, impossible clue left behind: a red checker piece, sitting on a frozen stone, still warm to the touch.

Leo knows what he saw. And he knows his rescuer was more than just a man.
