Shannon and her ghost sister, Steph, delve into the trinket box once more to return a small treasure to its rightful owner. But just as they're pondering a ring bearing an unusual orange stone, the whole town of Petrie's Crossing goes code red over a missing child.

It's little Clare, an angelic seven-year-old who Shannon knows can see ghosts.

While the townspeople put their differences aside to pull together, something within Shannon freezes. It's too much like the case that forced her to seek refuge where no one knows her past. But as the first critical hours pass and the search grows more desperate, those few whom she dared share her secret turn to her, asking, begging her to do something.
