Adopted and Other Labels

This collection is the first of the Adopted and Other Labels series, which will be a detailed look at what it’s like to be an adopted black kid from Haiti growing up in mostly white settings. This collection showcases poetry, as well as some essays and work in prose. Each work was chosen for the collection because it shows a frame of mind the author could only have under the circumstances. The collection of works is small, but it serves as an introduction to what will be a larger more in depth discussion. The collection was made to show people that everybody has a story, and also to get people to think more about others. Everyone has a different back story, all more complex than people think. Hopefully this collection will allow people to appreciate what each person has to offer a bit more.
