All the Pieces

Lena Case is a Sophomore in college, working diligently to be accepted into a nursing program. She keeps to herself and has no interest in having a social life. While growing up she fell irrevocably in love with her best friend Brandon. Near the end of their Senior year of high school they were both blown away when Brandon was diagnosed with a terminal and aggressive form of cancer. Lena is trying to let go of survivor’s guilt and learn to live without Brandon and all the dreams she once had of their life together.

While volunteering at the University’s Children’s Hospital, Lena meets Grayson Thoms, a pre-teen boy with terminal brain cancer. They quickly become friends and she feels a sisterly bond with Grayson, even though she had thought her heart was closed for good. When she meets his older brother, Trent, something inside of her shifts. She feels an immediate bond with Trent and while his feelings reciprocate hers, Lena realizes he’s just as afraid to love as she is.

This novel follows Lena on her journey as she tries to move on from her past and away from the future she had always planned on. It’s never easy to let go, especially when you’re thrown into a similar situation of having to watch yet another person you love slowly die. While Lena and Trent lean on each other, they know they are developing strong feelings for one another but are both afraid of what the loss of Grayson is going to do to them. What they don’t know is what lies in store. This is their journey of love and loss, coping, and finally deciding to take a chance on love.
