Animals That Hibernate

In the winter, when it’s cold outside, many animals find nice warm places to go to sleep and only wake up again in the spring, when the weather grows warm once more. This is called hibernation!

You might know that bears hibernate, but did you know that other animals also sleep through the winter? Frogs and toads sleep in the mud, while ladybugs hide in old logs, under rocks, and even in your house! Bats, chipmunks, hedgehogs, dormice—all of them go to sleep when it gets cold outside.
