AS Biology

This ebook is written for AS candidates wishing to obtain an A or B grade at AS biology. It will also help to pass the subject. The last chapter is written to assist in responses to Unit 3 and 6 questions.


As a University Lecturer for 15 years I have been used to good quality teaching material. Now working as an A level teacher of biology, I have found the textbooks available are (in my opinion) not adequate for students to succeed at A level biology. Many facts seemed to be missing or to be phrased obscurely, and many irrelevant points were included. However, as extra reading the textbooks were excellent. 

The only option was to create my own material, which was concise (every fact here is relevant), yet covered the course detail with all of the important points and phrases spelled out clearly. 

This ebook is designed to cover the topics of Unit 1 AS Biology with the AQA examination board.

Biology; General Biology, Animal Biology and Plant Biology are written for more detailed studies on the iGCSE biology course and can be purchased from the ebook store. These books do provide excellent extra reading to catch up on the basics of the AS syllabus, or as preparation over the summer prior to embarking on an AS course.
