The global pace of change is unrelenting. This is a fact that affects us all. Part of this change is the ever increasing expectations of stakeholders. What is considered “excellent” today becomes the “standard” of tomorrow as innovative products and practices are copied and cloned. This doesn’t only happen within discrete industries or sectors; increasingly we see the cross-fertilisation of ideas between sectors. 

It’s therefore important for any organisation to understand how their performance and practices compare with “the best”. Assessment against the EFQM Excellence Model provides us with a tool to measure any organisations current position in their journey towards excellence. The information contained in this report allows you to benchmark this position against the organisations recognised through the EFQM Excellence Awards process. 

The comparisons included in this report of the 2016 and 2017 applicants are therefore based against the same version. Feedback generated through this process not only helps the applicants improve; the Assessors gain unique insights into what makes an organisation excellent. They can take this knowledge back to their own organisations to support their own development. We at EFQM also share this learning through the good practice our Assessors identify. Over time, many of these good practices become the standard against which others are measured. 

This is how the EFQM network supports the sustainable development of the organisations who use the Model and, ultimately, all organisations.
