Bessarabian Nights

This novel explores the issues besetting contemporary Moldova. It follows the lives of three girls who have sworn to be best friends forever, but whose friendship is only truly put to the test when one of the girls goes missing.
The plot centres around economic migration, the East-West culture clash, the sexual exploitation of Eastern European women and the role of local religion – which tends toward the sensational – in the psychological make-up of these female victims.
