When police officer Fiona Benson is stabbed in a robbery, her foster daughter Lesley becomes her fiercest protector. After twice narrowly escaping assassination, Lesley is convinced a drug syndicate and the Russian Secret Service are hunting her. Her friends sustain her and hold a pre-teen non-judgemental attitude. but secretly no-one believes a word of it. As Fiona unravels under her own family grief, the fragile bond holding them fractures.  When Fiona's father Fred goes to Switzerland for an arranged death an upset Lesley disappears. This pushes Fiona over the edge and she reaches her breaking point.
