Catriona

David Balfour comes down from the heather with the Appin murder still unsolved, and finds that telling the truth in an Edinburgh court is harder than crossing the Highlands with a price on his head. Stevenson wrote the sequel to "Kidnapped" in Samoa, six years later, and gave the second half to a love story he had refused the first. Catriona Drummond is the daughter of an informer, and neither the law nor the lovers come out of it clean.
