D-Day: Operation Overlord

Throughout the history of the world, there has never been a 24-hour period throughout which so much depended as those on June 6th, 1944.

It was on that day that Allied forces were to establish a foothold on Hitler's Europe. It was their last and only chance to prevent the spread of Nazism across the globe. If Europe was to be liberated, if the war against Germany was to be won, the thousands of men who waded through the surf and stumbled up the beaches in the face of terrifying machine gun fire simply had to succeed.
