Reina Cahill is used to taking on the problems of others. As the owner of a store purveying all things witchy—and also as someone hiding inexplicable powers of magic and empathy—she’s learned people offer not only their business but long and lingering psychic emanations of their ailments and emotions and even their humanity. Every customer is like an open book, and yet each reminds her that she is unique, alone, a refugee from a traumatic past impossible to fathom. But the man outside her shop tonight is different. He feels like…home.

That home is not familiar, though it holds answers to many questions. There are those who seek Reina’s death. To survive, she must return to a place of shapeshifters and sorcerers, of ancient secrets and older magic, of dragons and witches and a crown yet to be seized. But Reina’s responsibilities will only grow. She must win the friendship of monsters and the love of a vigilante sorcerer, for finally she must claim her Eldercynne destiny and save the world.
