Enoch Soames: a memory of the eighteen-nineties

A sad yet self-important writer sells his soul to the Devil in return for a glimpse of his presumed posthumous fame. Very enjoyable slice of life circa 1890's among young artists. This theme is rendered in a wonderfully British way, full of self deprecation but not at the expense of honesty.
