When a devastating fall destroys a man's face in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, he embarks on an agonizing struggle to rebuild his identity.

Helio Cara loses his livelihood as a barber and his place in society after a catastrophic accident leaves his countenance shattered beyond recognition. Shunned by his community, abandoned by his lover Lula, and denied surgical aid by an indifferent bureaucracy, Helio finds himself treated as an outcast monster. Forced to cover his head with a white handkerchief, he retreats to the remote hinterland of his deceased mother's home.

Refusing to remain an invisible victim, Helio resolves to reclaim his humanity through sheer determination. With basic household needles, thread, and medical diagrams, he undertakes the painstaking task of rebuilding his own facial features stitch by stitch. Will his perilous self-reconstruction allow him to rejoin the human race, or will the world forever look away?
