Firepower

It is summer 1535 and the Great Council of Voravia are determined to punish their historic enemy, Sloronia, for the actions that followed the contest for the Saint’s Isles.  Voravia’s demands are rebuffed and an expedition is mounted to seize an island. It would appear that Sloronia had been warned about the attack, for it is repulsed at great loss.  Now the initiative has passed to the enemy who possess the new weapon of war, cannon and, using it, overwhelm the vital frontier fort..  Seventeen-year -old Peter Salt and his friend, the poet Henry Martley are sent on a mission to acquire a cannon.

Their efforts result in a series of desperate battles.

With the Sloronian forces advancing and the Voravian army not yet ready, the sixteen-year-old Princess Katherine and her lady-in-waiting Elspeth raise a citizen’s army to try to delay the enemy.  It soon becomes apparent there is a traitor within the Voravian court.  Kate and Elspeth will have to call upon all their courage and intelligence to survive.

There are no magic swords or flying horses to come to their aid, Kate and Peter have to survive by the use of their brains and courage.
