Detective Cassie Kinsala has accepted her place in their secret world, just as the barriers between it and the real world fail. But with her superiors finding it harder to avoid the truth, Cassie is drawn into the politics of a department in panic – potentially more treacherous than any gunfight.

Everyone is caught up in the wake of the changes: government and corporate interests trying to control or suppress the new technology; a movement of independent inventors embracing and innovating; and someone using the technology for increasingly brazen crimes.
