Hettie Parke is ready to celebrate. At least she should be because her new croquet courts are nearing completion but not everyone is happy about it. As she tries to appease the opposition by planning an Open Day that includes the Bowls Club, she finds herself on an unexpected visit to the old Woody Lake cemetery at the request of her friend Marlee.

While Marlee is documenting old cemeteries for the State Library's records, the Mrs B's invite themselves along complete with afternoon tea for the purpose of laying an anniversary wreath on the grave of their friend Florrie Parke. But their visit results in the unexpected and grim discovery of a freshly buried body on top of Uncle Roscoe's grave.

Hettie is shocked. Another murder? She's not getting involved in this one. Then the dead woman turns out to be a client of her croquet-playing friend ghostwriter Belle Danvers and Hettie accepts Belle's request to help her finish the project for the family. But is the death connected to the woman's research into her grandmother's life?

There are a lot of unanswered questions and despite Hettie and Belle's investigations turning up nothing but dead ends, Janelle issues a warning. Someone thinks they already know too much. Will Hettie get to see the opening of her new croquet courts? Or will they become her memorial?
