Interpreting Primary Sources with Stop Motion

This multi-touch book provides a detailed look at how to integrate primary resources, interpretation, and innovation using digital storytelling with Stop Motion. As a “one best thing” from 2015 Apple Distinguished Educator Joe Welch, this work provides resources for getting started in locating primary sources as well as the strategies and tools that you can use within your classroom to enable students to collaborate and create their own stories using stop motion animation.


By employing primary sources in conjunction with digital storytelling tools including stop motion, amongst others, we are teaching students research, interpretation, creativity, thinking, writing, and collaboration skills.  What is even more exciting is that students are personalizing history, building a connection and inciting a love for our world’s storied past.
