A beautiful but spoiled princess rudely criticizes her suitors because she is too proud. She is impressed by the last suitor, a young King with a thick beard she calls thrush’s beak, but her pride will not let her accept him, so she cruelly dubs him King Thrushbeard, who left in anger. Her angry father vows that the first to come to the palace will become a husband for her.
