Jenny Lane wants to stand on her own two feet.


Her family members accomplished their dream of relocating from Hong Kong to Vancouver, B.C., but they don’t understand that Jenny and her brother Ben have their dreams too.  Ben longs to become a professional musician and twenty-two-year-old Jenny wants to become a popular romance novelist.


The family refers to her writing as “scribbling”. And while Jenny doesn’t like to admit it, her sheltered life has provided her with no opportunity for romance. Her writing is missing something—something important. But all Jenny knows is that she dislikes her fiancé Edward Li.


As her wedding draws closer, Jenny flees her well-to-do home. She learns to survive in a tough world that she never dreamed existed. While hiding from her family, Jenny meets the mysterious Lukas Hanh, the biggest Chinese man she has ever seen. Jenny loses her heart, but gains still more trouble in her life.


How can she love Lukas when she has already promised her great-grandmother she will marry Edward? And how can she marry Edward when Lukas is the one she truly wants? Jenny loves the Old One dearly, but her great-grandmother just doesn’t understand. And Jenny's vivid imagination is failing her this time because she really has no idea what to do.
