Marine Beachrocks

This book is designed for carbonate petrographers and reviews the current state of knowledge on marine beachrocks.


Petrographic description of beachrock thin sections is illustrated with high resolution, superimposed, interactive images using normal light, electron backscatter, fluorescence, and cathodoluminescence microscopy. Movies are included to assist with identification and interpretation.


The following topics are reviewed:- 1) birdseye, fenestrae, keystone vugs, 2) alteration of exposed beachrocks, 3) interpretation of published isotopic and elemental data,4) beachrocks as sea level indicators and 5) ancient beachrocks.
