Everyone has a history, a past that influences their present and future in ways many never realize. It shapes how we remember events, how we perceive others around us, and even who we choose to befriend along our journeys. Good, bad, or indifferent it does not matter. Your history shapes who you are today, and who you will become tomorrow. No exceptions. Some choose to run from their history, hoping to leave it buried behind them and forge a new life someplace else. Eventually it catches up to them. Always. Without fail.

Meeting Joe is a story of loss, coming of age, and life coming full circle. It is also a story of reunification, forgiveness, and compassion. It begins as the story of a boy running from his past, away from his home town and what is left of his family in search of a better tomorrow, out from under the shadow of his history. As is so often the case, he one day finds himself staring that history in the face, forced to choose between running from it again and facing it head on.
