Melanin

“Melanin” is the first in a new series of photography/art books by Christian Elia. This book follows three individuals that are photographed in South Carolina, a state scarred with continued race issues through the decades. Often known for it’s southern beauty, South Carolina is forever in debt to the slaves that helped build and maintain it. “Melanin” is a journey through photography and graphic design that sees people of color exploring a downtown setting and embracing the beauty, but not forgetting the looming problems that still exist in today’s society.
