Messerschmitt Bf 109

The most important German fighter aircraft of the Second World War, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, was already approaching obsolescence during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Several attempts were made by Messerschmitt to produce a direct replacement and along the way some of the most interesting and unusual prototypes of the war were built. 

Messerschmitt Bf 109: Secret Projects and Experimental Prototypes examines the Me 309, Me 209-II, Bf 109ST/Me 155, Bf 109TL, Bf 109Z, Me 409, Me 609, Bf 109H, BV 155, Bf 109Es and Fs adapted to become part of Mistel flying bomb combinations and individual test aircraft such as the Bf 109G-0 fitted with a V-tail, the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb/Bf 109G hybrid.
