Salinas Police Detective Mike Garcia's life had become a tranquil pond of certainty. The murder rate in Salinas had dropped by more than half. He had a loving wife and beautiful twin daughters. But when he is called to the murder of a gang member, found with his throat cut in a field owned by a rich, powerful, estranged grandfather, he is sent on a path that plunges his perfect life into turmoil.
